John Luni
chime interactive / Virtual Venues Network
Jon has been a pioneer in the Internet music space since 1993, when he co-founded the paradigm-shifting Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA). Following that was a string of other landmark efforts: Addicted To Noise (ATN), the first online rock-n-roll magazine; MediaCast, the first webcasting company; and The FezGuys, a streaming audio column with a 6-year run, culminating in the book "Streaming Audio, The FezGuys' Guide".
In 1999, Jon founded Chime Interactive and returned to working directly with artists, managers, tour agencies, and labels providing a grab bag of consulting, production and technology services. Projects include: BobDylan.com, Madonna.com, MatesOfState.com, KPIG.COM and TBDRecords/Radiohead as well as online marketing campaigns (video podcasts) with artists Joe Satriani, Los Lobos and Thomas Dolby. Jon is also co-founder of the Virtual Venues Network, a company trailblazing a new revenue stream for live music through licensing/capturing high-def concerts to a network of clubs and campuses and displaying on giant projection screens.
Named one of the "Top 50 People to Watch in Cyberspace" by Newsweek Magazine in 1995, Jon has gone on to wag his tongue at a variety of international conferences in the past decade, including Bandwidth Conference, SanFran MusicTech Summit, Internet World, Canada Music Week, North by Northwest, NARAS Music & Multimedia and Streaming Media West.
Jon lives in Santa Cruz with his wife and two daughters and continues to record and play music in his (limited) free time.
