Corey Denis is a digital music marketing consultant and VP of marketing at reapandsow, a digital distribution and marketing company in San Francisco. Corey has been pioneering digital music marketing for 10 years using everything from ListServs & forums to social networks and creative tagging techniques. She got her music industry start at What Are Records? where she helped dramatically increase sales and broaden fanbases for Frank Black, Figurine, Stephen Lynch, Maceo Parker, The Samples, innocence mission, The Ocean Blue, and many others. During Corey’s time at W.A.R.? sales tripled, Stephen Lynch went gold and digital sales became the number one revenue source for the label. Corey moved to San Francisco in 2005 to work at IODA where she helped create and market Promonet, the premier source of royalty free music online for promotional use by internet radio djs, bloggers and podcasters.
Consulting projects include the SxSW 2008 Insider’s Guide, High Sierra Music Festival, Me.dium, OUTSHOUTS, and advising Cyber PR/ Ariel Publicity on digital music & social network strategy. Live events most recently produced by Corey during her "free time" are Barack 'N Roll, Save Net Radio Fundraiser, and Reload: San Francisco. Conferences where Corey has moderated or been on a panel include South By Southwest, CMJ, San Fran Music Tech Summit, Future of Music Summit, Les Recontres, and numerous others. Corey holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Colorado & an undergraduate degree in English & Cognitive Psychology from the University of South Carolina.
